Rest is not a luxury, it is a necessity
The truth is rest is not laziness; it is maintenance. It is how your nervous system finds balance again, how the body and mind recalibrate after effort, how your thoughts settle and your hormones rebalance.
When you finally stop doing and just breathe, your body shifts from survival mode to recovery mode. Your heart rate slows, muscles loosen and your brain gets the chance to process emotions it’s been holding on to all this while.
We often talk about self-care, but we forget that rest is the foundation of it. You can eat right, journal, or meditate, but without actual rest, your system never fully resets. You can’t pour real efficiency from an overworked and overstimulated mind.
True rest isn’t just the absence of activity; it’s the presence of peace. Sometimes that means quiet, sometimes solitude and sometimes just sitting without performing or scrolling.
And yes, it’s understandable that you just want to keep on working because that voice in your head that says “you have to stay productive” is loud. But here is the truth: your body doesn’t care your productivity or deadlines; it cares about your peace. And your nervous system will always find a way to remind you when you’ve ignored that for too long.
So step away from the noise; you can start small, it’s the effort that matters. Breathe and relax. Not because you’ve earned it, but because you need it, because you are human.

This is very true!👏🏽
